Relay sign up

As promised, here are the details for signing up your athletes for relays……

Over the next 3 weeks, our parent duty desk (near the entry gate) will be staffed by the lovely Kate Gniel and Jane Hattwich.

Shortly after competition commences, the desk will morph into a relay information and sign up centre. Kate and Jane will be there to answer any queries you have about relays and to register your athletes.

Sign up this year will be via the sign up desk only

In addition to registering interest for regionals, you will be asked:
⭐️ To confirm your athlete is a full member (or will be at the time of relays)
⭐️ Whether you are also registering your athlete for Box Hill
⭐️ Which events and over which distances your athlete would prefer to compete (this is a preference only, events and distances will be at the discretion of coaches and team managers)
⭐️ Whether you can assist as a team manager or coach. Every team must have a team manager. This is a simple coordination role, best performed by a parent with some knowledge of the competing athletes but not essential.

Once the number of interested athletes in each age group has been finalized, we will work with coaches and team managers to select and finalize teams.

There is no additional cost to participate in relays other than gate entry at Box Hill. DLAC covers the cost of registration 🙏

Athletes participating in relays will be required to attend training at least once a week in the lead up to competition. Our main training nights are Mondays from 4:30pm at Tom Kelly. Our first training session will be Monday 16 October. Some teams like to arrange separate times and this is generally OK. DLAC has the track booked from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Athletes can also practice after competition is complete on Saturday mornings.

Relays are a fantastic part of the season and a great way to meet new families and make new friends. We look forward to registering lots of our athletes on Saturday.
